What to Expect
If you're considering visiting Cornerstone, we want you to feel welcome and to know what our gatherings are like. Our aim each Lord's Day is simple: to worship God as he has commanded in his Word, to sit under the faithful preaching of Christ, and to be nourished at his Table.
Simple Worship
Our services are ordered by Scripture rather than by spectacle. We gather to do the things the New Testament sets before us: to read God's Word, to pray, to sing his praises, to hear the Word preached, and to receive the Lord's Supper. You won't find performance or entertainment here — only the ordinary means of grace that Christ has given his church, which he uses to build up his people week after week.
We sing congregationally, with the whole gathered church lifting its voice together. Our worship is reverent but not cold, plain but not careless.
Reformed, Experiential Preaching
The preaching of God's Word stands at the center of our service. We preach the Scriptures expositionally — working through books of the Bible passage by passage — and we preach them for the heart as well as the mind.
By experiential, we mean preaching that not only explains what Scripture says, but applies it to the heart by the aid of the Holy Spirit. Our aim is that you not only understand God's word, but believe and are made more like Christ because of it.
A Weekly Lord's Supper
Each Lord's Day we come to the Table together. We believe the Lord's Supper is a means of grace, given by Christ to feed and strengthen his people, and so we observe it as often as we come together on the Lord's Day. In the bread and the cup we remember his death, commune with him in the present, and look forward to the day we will eat and drink with him in his kingdom.
The Table is for baptized believers who are walking in fellowship with Christ and his church. If you are visiting and have questions about participating, we invite you to speak with a pastor before or after the service.
Practical Details
We gather for worship each Sunday at 10:30 am at the Clay Community Center, 6415 Clay-Palmerdale Rd, Pinson, AL 35126. The Community Center is the building at the far back of the lot.
